The Fishback House offers the opportunity to restore a historic treasure to its former glory. Built around 1830, this two-story red brick home is steeped in history, from its ties to the Fishback family, the Civil War and Thomas Jefferson’s travels. In 1861, in front of the house, the Little Fork Rangers Cavalry assembled to receive their flag before marching off to the 2nd Battle of Manassas. The home features Holy Cross Doors, wide-plank floorboards, and eight fireplaces. Behind the house the stone foundation of the Jeffersonton Academy, est. by Act of Assembly in 1828 and a designated historical site, adds to the historic allure.
